Michael is pursuing a PhD in chemistry at Texas A&M University. His current research focuses on quantum electrodynamics within an optical cavity. Specifically, he is investigating unexpected changes in chemical reactivity as a result of vibrational strong coupling. His research interests include quantum electrodynamics, quantum optics, material science, and computational chemistry.
Michael completed his BS in chemistry at Tarleton State University in May 2025. While there, he worked in Dr. Rajani Srinivasan’s group to explore the effectiveness of replacing synthetic polymers with polymers extracted from plants in industrial water treatment. Michael received the 2024 Undergraduate Award in Physical Chemistry from the American Chemical Society.
Michael joined the Mandal group at Texas A&M in September 2025.
